No Thai!

I really appreciate a restaurant that can put an exclamation point in their name. Sometimes I sign my name John! just to get the point accross. No Thai! has a simple menu with prices that include sales tax so there is no scrounging for change. The service was quick and the food good. My only [...]

Rod’s Place

Rod’s Place is pretty cool, and is the second Bi Bim Bop/Cheese Steak place that I’ve been to in Ann Arbor. The guy working at Rod’s (I assume he’s the owner) knew of the Broadway Cafe (also a Bi Bim Bop/Cheese Steak place) but said that they weren’t connected. The food here was great, and [...]

Two Samosas and a Coconut Juice

The area I work, Jones Drive, is very limited for lunch options. So I headed to the Indian specialty foods store, Foods of India, to scrounge together a meal. They serve full meals after 4pm, therefore my only option was a Samosa. I had two and they were delicious. I know nothing about the cooking [...]

Miki - Post by Robin

I had dinner at Miki with a bunch of my relatives last Friday night. I thought it was an outstanding place. Our server was a fun and friendly guy. He took our picture at the end of the night. The food was excellent. I have always heard a lot about Miki [...]

Broadway Cafe

Broadway Cafe is an interesting mix: cheese steaks and bi bim bop. The interior is about the most bland place I have ever seen with plain white walls and flickering florescent lights. The cheese steak was pretty good and the guy at the counter was friendly. There seemed to be about 10 people hanging out [...]

China Gate

I ate at China Gate on Sunday night. After walking past this place for years, I finally decided it was time to take the plunge. It is an average Chinese place; lots of food that tastes relatively good. However, their exterior boasts awards from various food contests. Also, I had a fascinating discussion with the [...]

Raja Rani

When I lived in Seattle I became a bit of a Indian lunch buffet connoisseur. There’s basically two things that make a good Indian buffet. Food taste and freshness, and the existence of salad and desert. Everything was good at Raja Rani and it was reflected in the packed dining room. Only cost about $8 [...]

Panda Express - Pierpont Commons

Panda Express is like the Mcdonald’s of Chinese food. It’s a lot of food for cheap, and tastes ok. I could probably eat it every day despite the average taste, because the service is fast, it’s easy, and I can start eating within 30 seconds of arriving.

Marnee Thai Restaurant

It was freezing walking to Marnee Thai. I saw the sign for lunch specials so I was immediately drawn in. I had the Pad Thai. It also included a small salad, which is a plus because I eat out for pretty much every meal. The price was $8.96, which is kind of strange. Then when [...]

Teriyaki Time

After passing on Zingerman’s because it was too packed, I wandered around Kerry Town looking for food. I stumbled upon Teriyaki Time. Good alliteration in the name. The sign said “Asian Fusion” which implies expensive. It wasn’t, although any restaurant can put the word fusion in their tagline and increase prices by 50%. They had [...]
