Bagger Dave’s

Bagger Dave’s in the Colannade

My friend left a message—”We’re going to dinner at Bagger Dave’s in the Colonnade, we can pick you up.” Bagger What??!! The Colonnade is an inauspicious setting (I’ve heard some call it the worst architecture in Ann Arbor) but Bagger Dave’s classes up the neighborhood a little. Actually, it’s a fascinating [...]

Good Time Charley’s

Good Time Charley’s is located in the heart of the campus and is famous for 21st birthdays and its wide assortment of drinks. Their food menu has improved dramatically and the pizza sticks are awesome, especially with beer. Their prices have increased over time as they used to have $3.50 beer pitchers only a few [...]

Blue Tractor

Blue Tractor, on 205 E Washington, is a brewpub. Good food, good beer. I didn’t see any tractors. They also operate Cafe Habana next door.

Dominick’s

Dominick’s is another institution in Ann Arbor. Unfortunately they seem to be living off this status. Of course, sangria is great, and so is their building. I showed up at 9pm, and about every 5 minutes they would blast their loudspeaker to announce a food order or that they were closing at 10pm.  They even [...]

Grizzly Peak

I went to Grizzly Peak with a bunch of family members who all randomly showed up in Ann Arbor on the same day. The brew pub has a huge beer selection and an assortment of food. I ordered the reuben (some called it a heart attack on bread) and figured that my arteries needed a [...]

Corner Brewery

Corner Brewery is Arbor Brewing Company’s place in Ypsilanti. It has an open loft feel and you can buy kegs. The bar was filled with hoe down and bluegrass music. A few people were dancing a jig. As for me, I only hoe down in private. Corner Brewery enforces a lineup policy for ordering, which [...]

Arbor Brewing Company

No pictures for this post. I went to ABC with some of the groomsmen for a friend’s upcoming wedding. ABC brews their own beer and they have a great brewpup atmosphere. I drank the Brasserie Blond, with 6% alcohol despite it’s smooth taste. I also tried the pierogies. I’m a bit of a pierogi expert [...]

Monkey Bar

Part of the name Monkey Bar is a misnomer. There are no monkeys, unlike some bars in Japan. They do have outdoor seating on Main Street and lots of beer, so I was happy.

Bar Louie

I headed to Bar Louie on a Friday night. It was packed with lots of people in their 20s, so I fit in perfectly. It has an open, loft feel with deck seating. Bar Louie is actually a chain, but at least it doesn’t feel like it. The Ann Arbor News did a good review.

Conor O’Neill’s

I like Conor O’Neill’s. Good selection of beer, good food, and trivia nights. When I was in college it was a great reason to go to a bar on a Monday night. I also had no money so I would mooch food from everybody else. Tonight I had a Harp and Fish & Chips. It [...]
