The Classic Cup Cafe

4893 Jackson Rd.
What is so classic about the Classic Cup Café? One answer would be the classic diner food from BLTs, to cheese omelettes to spaghetti and meatballs. Another would be the classic movie theme with vintage Hollywood posters on the walls—my favorite is a skinny-skinny Audrey Hepburn at Tiffany’s—and dishes named after classic stars—The [...]

Cupcake Station

The Cupcake Station is exactly as the title describes it; a store filled with cupcakes. Miniature, regular, chocolate, and much much more. They also have coffee. Totally awesome.
I had the following interaction with the guy at the counter.
Me: What’s your favorite cupcake?
Guy at Counter: They all are.
Me: That’s a copout answer.
Guy at Counter: It’s like [...]

Rod’s Place

Rod’s Place is pretty cool, and is the second Bi Bim Bop/Cheese Steak place that I’ve been to in Ann Arbor. The guy working at Rod’s (I assume he’s the owner) knew of the Broadway Cafe (also a Bi Bim Bop/Cheese Steak place) but said that they weren’t connected. The food here was great, and [...]

Broadway Cafe

Broadway Cafe is an interesting mix: cheese steaks and bi bim bop. The interior is about the most bland place I have ever seen with plain white walls and flickering florescent lights. The cheese steak was pretty good and the guy at the counter was friendly. There seemed to be about 10 people hanging out [...]

Chocolate House of Ann Arbor

The Chocolate House of Ann Arbor is on Main Street near William. It was loaded with chocolates of every kind and great drinks. Basically, it’s like wrapping up Willy Wonka’s factory into a charming store. There was a room in the middle of the place and the barista told me it was a secret. Now [...]

Exotic Cuisine & Bakeries - Syrian Cuisine

When I first heard that I was going here I giggled because the name reminded me of a place called the erotic, not exotic bakery. My lunch mate told me that he had his wedding catered here, which made it funnier.  Anyway, they have a counter to order food and it’s ready in just a [...]

Sweetwaters Cafe

Sweetwaters is a cool cafe in Kerry Town. It’s always been packed when I’ve visited, and sometimes filled with high school kids, because the school is just across the street. It makes a nice stop when visiting the farmer’s market. booya.

Biggby Coffee

Free wifi and fun atmosphere. It’s a chain, but a nice, solid coffee shop.

Espresso Royale

I don’t have an office now since I just moved to Ann Arbor. So rather than work from home, I’ve been cycling through coffee shops and libraries during the day. Espresso Royale is a chain, but this particular one on Main Street was pretty cool. A tiny hallway opens up into a huge ballroom style [...]

Amer’s Cafe

This is a cool place with lots of sandwiches. I’m a fan of the chalk board style menu. Amer’s is the type of place where somebody could hang out for five hours. I had a Reuben, one of the most unhealthy sandwiches. It was perfect.
