I had dinner at Miki with a bunch of my relatives last Friday night. I thought it was an outstanding place. Our server was a fun and friendly guy. He took our picture at the end of the night. The food was excellent. I have always heard a lot about Miki and I was thrilled to hear that was where we were meeting for dinner. Everybody’s food was great. I had a California roll and a shrimp tempura roll. I have had sushi at a few other places around Ann Arbor and this was the best I have had. It even had an interesting and inventive presentation. We ordered sea bass as an appetizer and that was absolutely delicious. It had some sort of glaze on it with miso sauce. I have never had sea bass before, but I was impressed. My cousin had a bento box with all sorts of things in it. Octopus, salmon, deep fried shrimp, and some pickled vegetables. He said he liked it. He has spent time in Japan and noticed that the bento boxes in Japan are much smaller than the one at Miki, typical American portions. Some other things that were ordered were, cabbage rolls, tuna sashimi, mackerel sashimi, nori rolls, seaweed salad and a dish called “dynamite”. Everything got terrific reviews. I didn’t try the dynamite, but apparently it lives up to its name and is incredibly spicy. Have plenty of water handy if you sample it. Overall, I was very pleased with everything Miki had to offer.
